Planting Sweet Corn

Sweet corn is planted with this John Deere 290 2 row corn planter. It'll also plant sunflowers, beans, peas, etc. It's fully adjustable for seed depth, row spacing, distance between seeds, as well as fertilizer amount. It came with a large collection of seed plates so I can vary the seed amount and spacing. It has a 3 speed gear box to allow different seed and fertilizer rates too.

It uses only ground power to raise and lower the planting units. It uses a two way clutch, and a series of gears and chains to raise and lower the planting drills. If you can pull it it'll plant.

I bought this unit about twenty years ago for $75, Tore it down and totally rebuilt it. Works amazingly well for an antique. One of the best farm investments I ever made.
